Reducing Waste
At Seminole Dining, we prioritize reducing food waste through streamlined back-of-house waste tracking practices with Enable+, a highly intuitive iPad application that’s built for food waste tracking, and our partnership with the Food Recovery Network, donating consumable foods that would otherwise be wasted.
As a trayless-dining campus, we conserve over 35,100 gallons of water annually, equivalent to about 3 cups of water per tray. We've eliminated plastic bags from our dining locations, demonstrating our commitment to minimizing single-use plastic waste and promoting sustainability throughout our campus community.
OZZI To-go Reusable Container FAQ
- What are OZZI green containers?
OZZI green containers are reusable containers provided by Seminole Dining for meal plan holders and the public to use and reuse at residential dining locations.
- How do I get an OZZI container if I'm a meal plan holder?
Meal plan holders receive one container per semester. To get your container, inform the cashier at Suwannee Room or Seminole Café that you would like to redeem your OZZI swipe. Swipe your card, and the cashier will hand you your OZZI container.
- Can the public purchase OZZI containers?
Yes, OZZI containers are available for purchase at $5 each, and you do not need to be a meal plan holder to buy one.
- What happens if I lose my OZZI container?
If you lose your container, you will need to purchase another one. There are no refunds offered for OZZI containers, as they become your property after purchase.
- Can one meal swipe be used to dine-in as well as take food to-go in an OZZI container?
You must swipe once to dine-in and swipe again to take food to-go (in up to two OZZI containers).
- How many containers can I bring to the dining halls?
You can bring up to two containers per swipe to our all-you-care-to-eat dining halls.
- How do I exchange my used container for a new one?
Present your OZZI token to the cashier to receive a clean container and to-go cup.
- At Suwannee Room, return the used container to the OZZI machines next to the cashier.
- At Seminole Café, deposit your container in the small collection bin and receive your token from the cashier.
- Why should I use OZZI containers?
OZZI containers are made with recycled content and can replace 300 disposable containers. Using OZZI containers helps reduce our disposable footprint while allowing students and the public to enjoy fresh and nutritious meals during their busy days
Ocean Friendly Restaurant
Seminole Cafe, our all-you-care-to-eat dining hall on the west-side of campus, is a certified Ocean Friendly Restaurant! We are proud to partner with the FSU chapter of the Surfrider Foundation to eliminate single-use plastics in our dining hall.
